Amanda
I began practicing yoga in 1999 after moving to Vancouver. Initially, it wasn’t love at first sight, as the physical aspects of yoga were challenging. However, over the years, I realized that yoga is much more than just a stretch—it’s a way of life deeply rooted in history and culture. Yoga has taught me valuable lessons in kindness, empathy, and mindfulness. Practices like ahimsa (non-harming), santosha (contentment), and mudita (delighting in others' well-being) help guide my approach to life.
In 2015, I began my yoga teacher training, uncertain if I wanted to teach. I questioned my place in sharing a practice with such deep cultural roots. But as I learned more, I found a calling to share yoga beyond the physical, honoring its history and philosophies while drawing from my background in kinesiology. I now teach both kids and adults, aiming to make yoga accessible, educational, and welcoming for all.
Since joining The Yoga Buggy in 2018, I’ve had the privilege of bringing the joy of yoga to children, while also supporting the organization’s day-to-day operations. As an Accessible Yoga Ambassador, I advocate for equal access to yoga, believing it can empower and inspire individuals regardless of ability or background.
When I’m not teaching yoga, you can find me on the slopes of Whistler, BC, where I teach skiing in the winter. Yoga is a journey, and I encourage everyone to explore it with an open mind, always learning and growing along the way.
