What Is a Yoga Buggy Class like?
Written By Miri Gindin
Dear Yoga Families,
You know when you’re completely in the moment? It’s rare as adults, because of our complicated and never-ending to-do lists. But being with kids has a way of bringing all our grownup “tentacles” into the same project. I feel it with my son when we are:
-Reading a book together I loved as a child
-Inventing something together, like a lego project, an obstacle course or a comic strip and getting engrossed in our plans
-Teaching him something new and exciting like a drawing or sports technique and realizing I actually know how to do it!
Here’s a trade secret: When we teach yoga to kids, these amazing moments come fast and furious! Kids’ yoga has a way of unlocking an experience of community, peacefulness, fun, and creativity all at the same time. This is a magical combination and it puts us right in the flow.
Not only that. Kids’ yoga is a healthy activity for everyone involved. Our classes can help to strengthen important “muscles” like attention span, self-regulation, body positivity, confidence, flexibility, balance, resilience, and social-emotional awareness.
Our programs include a mixture of warm up, physical exercise (yoga postures), mindfulness, breathing exercises, games, dancing and storytelling. We provide a balance of instruction and relaxation; intellectual and physical engagement, quiet time and fun.
During these uncertain times of Covid-19 we are all working on bringing positive, playful, healthy activities into our families’ lives. Online yoga is one great way of doing that. We invite you and your kids to join us this Friday, April 3rd for Kids’ Yoga Day! I hope that, together, we can find a moment to leave our worries behind and experience some in-the-moment-ness with our most precious people :)
Love,
The Yoga Buggy Team
